The Downtown Milford Business Association hosted its annual Summer Sidewalk Sales event Saturday, Aug. 11 as savvy shoppers reaped the benefits of deep discounts.
In spite of the rainy day, enthusiastic shoppers enjoyed a fun-filled summer day and big savings as retail shops carrying clothing, accessories, beauty items, home goods, children’s toys and lifestyle items offered discounted prices.
The event host, the Downtown Milford Business Association is an association comprised of more than 100 businesses located in downtown Milford and includes retail, services, and restaurants which are committed to working together to create a strong, viable downtown.
“Downtown Sidewalk Sales are a great way to score incredible deals on boutique items, from clothes to shoes and accessories, to beauty, home and lifestyle products,” said Tracy Bonosconi, Association president. “The merchants in Downtown Milford offer beautiful, curated products year round – and the sales offer an opportunity to get them at great prices while clearing the way for fall merchandise.”
Participating stores included The Gilded Lady, Duck Duck Goose, S.V. Decker, Fresh Salon, Galinas, Whispers, The Lovet Shop, The Canvas Patch, Island Time, Sophie Claire’s, Arciuolo’s, Howe’s Drug Store, Vincent’s Jewelers and Makeup Makeup.
“People wait all year for this sidewalk sale,” said Amy DiSabella, owner of Sophie Claire’s. “It is a wonderful opportunity for the community to shop, dine and stroll our beautiful downtown all while scoring some amazing deals. Sophie Claire’s customers who have been eyeing that special outfit or home decor accessory all summer know that the Sidewalk Sale is the time to take advantage and save big on those long desired pieces.”
Yvonne Stobie, owner of Duck Goose, participates each year because, “As I kid I always loved sidewalk sales, I loved going downtown and seeing all the stores open up and having their merchandise out on the sidewalk and rummaging through it all, it was like an adventure to see what I could get at a bargain price. We sell a lot of products which offer kids a fun and active way to play; we also carry a lot of organic products including babies and kids organic clothing. I’ve lived in Milford my whole life and I love being a part of all the activities in downtown Milford. It’s fun to be a part of it all.”
Co-owner of Island Time Susan Stanek said, “This is our second year participating to be a part of the whole downtown scene, we wish the weather was better, we had to drag our apparel racks indoors, but we are here, we’re open and we’re selling!”
