While our best defense is always skincare, adding cosmetics that have nourishing ingredients can only benefit our complexion.

One major bonus of choosing all-natural makeup brands is their ingredients lists are full of botanicals that are beneficial for the skin, and right now, our skin is likely parched thanks to the cold weather outside and the forced-air inside.

Green beauty expert Michelle Bilodeau highlights some of her favourite natural makeup products that will give you the perfect holiday glow and enhance your complexion at the same time.

Beautycounter Velvet Eyeshadow Palette in Statement
These eyeshadows are made with cocoa seed butter and it’s super finely milled, so the powder goes on very saturated and silky.

The nine shades in this shadow palette are perfection for this holiday season. You can create a glittery smoky eye or go for something bold like a turquoise eye.

Sappho New Paradigm Brow Pomade
Get defined brows with this brow pomade that contains argan oil and coconut oil to help nourish brows and skin. Sappho was created by JoAnn Fowler, an Emmy-nominated makeup artist, and is a brand that says no to over 20 synthetic ingredients. To apply, simply use an angle brow brush, sweeping up with tiny strokes. Avoid creating a heavy look at the base of your brow by starting the application at the centre of your brow; then the base; and lastly, work out towards the outside of your brow.

Burt’s Bees Nourishing Mascara
Drugstore beauty brand Burt’s Bees launched cosmetics in 2017, and this mascara is a top seller for them. It contains jojoba oil and natural glycerin to help hydrate lashes, while making them look long and feathery.

Juice Beauty Cream Blush
This cream blush comes in four flattering hues and contains Juice Beauty’s proprietary blend of moisturizers — vegetable glycerin, grapeseed oil & phospholipids — as well as rose and purple carrot. This blush’s plant-derived hyaluronic acid will also help plump up cheeks.

RMS Luminizer
This is a cult favorite highlighter with a translucent, dewy finish. It’s made with nourishing coconut oil and rosemary extract and truly highlights the skin better than anything else. Without being sticky, greasy, or glittery, it creates a luminous glow that enhances the skin’s natural youthfulness.

Caudalie French Kiss Addiction Tinted Lip Balm in Raspberry Red
Some people may not know that French brand Caudalie is a clean brand. While they are not necessarily all organic, they do not include an extensive list of ingredients, including parabens, phthalates, mineral oils and more. And they also donate 1% from each sale to the 1% For The Planet initiative, which goes towards helping environmental causes. This lovely red balm is so perfect for the holidays — it contains hydrating aloe and beeswax, and it sinks into your lips when pressed with your fingers. If you want a matchy matchy look, you can also use it on your cheeks for a dewy, rosy glow.

Clove + Hallow Lip Crème in Damsel and Blooming
This bullet from BC-based beauty brand Clove + Hallow is made of organic jojoba, castor and sunflower oil and is certified vegan through PETA. Blooming is a bright pink shade that is perfect for this festive time of year, and Damsel is your classic red, the one everyone should have in their beauty bag.

W3LL People Narcissist Foundation Stick
W3LL People’s Narcissist Foundation Stick contains moisturizing ingredients like safflower seed oil and aloe vera and more. It comes in eight shades and can be used as a concealer or an allover foundation. The heat from your fingertips will warm it up, and you can finish blending with a foundation brush for an airbrushed look.
