Mayela Vazquez’s All Natural Beauty Tips

If you’ve been struggling to find the right products for your skin that doesn’t cost your whole paycheck, these helpful beauty tips will keep your skin looking and feeling good.

1. Rose Water

Rose water works as an effective toner that can be used before and after your makeup routine and works to minimize redness and sensitivity in the skin. Rose water can help to balance the skin’s pH levels to boost healthy and glowing skin all day long.

Recommended product: Rosa Damascena 100 Pure Bulgarian Rose Water, $19.95.

2. DIY Cucumber Eye Patches

Vazquez loves using eye patches and makes her own DIY patches using natural, organic cotton pads and a cucumber chamomile mixture with vitamin E. This treatment is extremely beneficial to de-puff and brighten the skin around the eyes.

DIY eye patch method:

  • Soak cucumber slices in chamomile tea and add a few drops of vitamin E to make a mixture.
  • Soak the cotton pads in the mixture and set them in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  • Apply before makeup.

3. Honey Lip Balm

Sometimes lipstick and other lip products can leave your lips feeling dry and dehydrated, therefore to ensure a crack-free lip, Vasquez recommends a clear, natural lip balm or honey mixed with raw sugar to hydrate and exfoliate the lips.

Recommended product: Kari Gran Lip Whip Perfector, $18

4. Face Peel

Glycolic face peels are effective to reduce wrinkles and blemishes as well as to treat acne scars. Commonly found in yogurt, vinegar and blackberries, glycolic acid helps to unclog pores and removes dead skin cells.

DIY glycolic face mask:

  • Mix 1/4 cup of yogurt and 1/4 cup of white cane sugar to create a creamy mixture.
  • Gently apply the mixture to your face, using your fingers. Make sure to avoid the area around the eyes.
  • Let the mask rest for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse off with cool water.

5. Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is extremely beneficial for overall skin health as it has hydrating and moisturizing effects on the skin. By boosting hydration to your skin, you can help reduce fine lines and minimize the appearance of large pores. Hyaluronic acid also works well as a primer before applying your makeup.

Recommended product: Osea Hyaluronic Sea Serum, $88
